In May of 2007 Kim and I traveled to Italy for about 12 days . It was a second visit for me. The intervening decades did not change Italy itself but the modernation of communications certainly did make her look much more like the US. During my first trip there the phones were archaic. Trans-Atlantic phone calls were expensive and relatively rare. During two months in Europe I only made one phone call back to the US (from and English family’s home) and it was an event. Today, we purchase a card for about $15.00 for about an hour.
Italy operates in the modern times, but is still a relic from the ages.
